Catastrophe intime et création poétique chez Kathleen Raine

This chapter explores the notion of intimate catastrophe in its symbolic interpretations through the autobiographical and poetic writing of Kathleen Raine, an English poet of the 20th century (1908-2003), a specialist of William Blake and the English Romantics, whose work has been the subject of numerous translations in France. She points out a pattern that can be observed in some of her contemporaries such as Sylvia Plath, Virginia Woolf and David Gascoyne, which can lead to death and the end of writing or, on the contrary, to the birth of a new cycle, a new self, resilient, lucid, with a great creative longevity.
Ce chapitre explore la notion de catastrophe intime dans ses interprétations symboliques à travers l’écriture autobiographique et poétique de Kathleen Raine, poétesse anglaise du 20ème siècle (1908-2003), spécialiste de William Blake et des romantiques anglais, dont l’œuvre a fait l’objet de nombreuses traductions en France. Elle fait émerger un pattern observable chez certains de ses contemporains comme Sylvia Plath, Virginia Woolf et David Gascoyne pouvant mener jusqu’à la mort et la fin de l’écriture ou au contraire à la naissance d’un nouveau cycle, d’un nouveau moi, résilient, lucide, d’une grande longévité créatrice.
