The Flesh of Politics: Democratic Split and the Creation of Symbols
La carne de la política: ruptura democrática y simbología
Résumé
This article intends to analyze the embodiment of the democratic split initiated by the Revolution of 1868 in the creation, re-appropriation or re-semantization of symbols and allegories. It studies the way in which symbolism seeks both to reflect political change and to take its place within a liberal genealogy, blending national tradition and foreign symbolic influences, prominent among which French ones.
Este artículo propone analizar cómo se encarna la ruptura democrática iniciada con la revolución de septiembre de 1868 en la creación, reapropiación o resemantización de símbolos y alegorías. Se estudia cómo la simbología busca, a la vez, reflejar el cambio político e inscribirse en una genealogía liberal, entrelazando tradición nacional e influencias simbólicas foráneas, especialmente francesas.
