Résumé
Tomàs Padró, an illustrator and a caricaturist who began his career in the middle of the 19th century would reveal his talent as a satirist during the Sexenio democrático (1868-1874), thanks to the exceptional conjunction of the democratization of the regime and the modernization of printing technical tools. The following study aims at reflecting on his emergence as a satirical cartoonist between the end of Isabel II’s reign and the first years of the Sexenio democrático, through an analysis of the graphical language of this staunch Republican who used his pencils as combat weapons.
Tomàs Padró, illustrateur et caricaturiste, qui avait commencé sa carrière au milieu du XIXe siècle, devait révéler son talent de satiriste avec le Sexenio democrático (1868-1874), grâce à l’exceptionnelle conjonction entre la démocratisation du régime et la modernisation des moyens techniques d’imprimerie. C’est à la naissance du dessinateur satiriste entre la fin du règne d’Isabelle II et les premières années du Sexenio democrático que se propose de réfléchir cette étude, en voyant comment se façonne le langage graphique de ce républicain convaincu qui a fait de ses crayons des armes de combat.
